Ever since I was young I always wanted to become a Beauty therapist and work on the cruise ships. So when I left school I went straight to college and completed my NVQ level 2 and 3 Beauty therapy qualification. After doing that for 2 years I had a couple of months out just doin bar work whilst thinking about my future. Then one day I decided to take the leap and apply to Steiner recruitment to go and work on board the cruise ships. 8 weeks later, 2 successful interviews I began my dream. I had to go to a college in London to do further training ready to go and work on board. I was placed on the Norwegian Pearl.Whilst on the ship I visited some amazing places and met some amazing people from all different cultures. It really was a trip of a lifetime.
Shortly after arriving home I had my little boy so was out of work for a year. I then decided I was ready to go back to work part time to fit around being a mum. I worked in a few spa's then a tanning salon. Whilst working at both these places I continued to try and start up my own business in the Beauty industry by just doing a few regular mobile clients that I had built up over the years. Then I had another amazing opportunity offered to me that I couldn't refuse. A very good friend had decided to take the leap and open up a high street salon in Witney, called Nailvogue. She asked if I wanted to rent a room and build my own business up. This was a very scary but massive commitment. So I began planning and decorating my new Beauty room ready for the grand opening. Luckily for me I was right on the high street of a busy town and very quickly became very busy. As my business started to take off I had to put all the hours and time that I could into making my business grow whilst being a mum.
A year later and I was pretty much fully established with a regular client base built up, my co worker decided to close the shop and emigrate to Australia. I was so pleased and proud of her for pursuing her dream, but this then left me without a premesis to trade from. I then tried to find another room somewhere to rent, but nowhere seemed ideal. So we decided to build a summerhouse in my garden at home so that I could still work and it would fit in around my family commitments. And this is where I'm at today, I've built a beautiful summerhouse in Burford which is peaceful and quiet. I've done the inside up that's nice and warm and cosy and I couldn't be happier. I now get to work and be at home.
